AWR1642BOOST: UniFlash Unable to Connect to COM Port

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

I am trying to flash the memory of the AWR1642BOOST to use the Demo Visualizer v3.2.0.  I can perform an SFLASH and erase the memory only once, but after I try to upload an SDK firmware version, the software fails and states "Image loading failed: Not able to connect to serial port. Recheck COM port selected and/or permissions."

I have checked the Device Manager and have confirmed that I am using the correct COM port.  I have also put the jumpers on SOP0 and SOP2 before connecting to a computer.  I have done this once and it worked, but now I can't get the software to flash the memory again.

  • Hi,

If this worked once there should not be a problem. Unless the board has been damaged.

Are you loading the correct image?

Can you share with us the path to the image you are trying to flash?

    thank you

    Cesar

  • Benjamin,

To use the mmWave Demo Visualizer, make sure to point Uniflash to this directory: C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_02_00_04\packages\ti\demo\xwr16xx\mmw

Flash this file to your AWR1642BOOST: xwr16xx_mmw_demo.bin

In Uniflash, in the "Settings & Utilities" tab, make sure you change the COM port to match the entry in Windows Device manager that says "Application/UART"

For example, in my setup, I would make sure the COM port entry is set to "COM4". Then switch back to the "Program" tab and select "Load Image" after pointing to the binary image that I referenced above. This step will automatically erase the flash before storing the new application.

    Regards,
