IWR6843ISK: mmwave Data Visualizer won't connect

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MMWAVEICBOOST, IWR6843AOPEVM, UNIFLASH

I've tried 2 different computers, reinstalling all tools, restarting the computers, waiting, power cycling the board - but I can't get the serial com ports to connect with data visualizer.  It will just indefinitely try to connect but never get there.

  • Hi Eric,

Can you post a screenshot of both your visualizer and your Windows Device manager when this error occurs?

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Here is the device manager after powering up the eval board

and here is how I selected the 2 com ports - with the following image being where it never finishes connecting.  I've tried all this on two different lap tops.

  • Akash,

Thanks for getting back to me.  I posted the images you requested.

    Eric

  • Hi Eric:

I have encountered the same problemi:。

Is this problem solved ? how to do it right?

    Thanks.

  • Hi Eric,

I think it is likely that your board jumpers may be set incorrectly. Have you changed them after flashing your board? Are you using the mmWaveICBOOST or just the IWR6843AOPEVM in standalone mode? Jumper settings are illustrated in the EVM User Guide.

If you'd like to proceed would you be able to send me a picture of your powered setup when this error occurs? Would you also post a picture of both sides of your AoP EVM so we can see your jumper/switch settings?

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Wagilung,

I found that if you have the Uniflash connect when you already have a web page up with visual analyzer, the com port will lock out without telling you.  You can find this is the case by closing out uniflash and then try to open the com port with teraterm - if that fails, the only solution is to restart windows, after that - it will connect.  I think the web based connection tool fails to properly give up the port when it is done.  Just power cycling the flash or enable then disable the com port will not recover the proper functioning of the port, only restarting your computer will allow it to connect.  Advice from other support forum discussion of this problem did not help me.
