AWR1843BOOST: Hardware Trigger

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843, MMWAVE-DFP

How can I use the hardware frame trigger? does the trigger start a single frame or the multiple frames specified in the sensor config? do I need to ARM before i send each trigger or does it only need to be done once? do the data from multiple triggers get stored in separate bin files or in the same bin file? where is the pin to the trigger located? can I use a Raspberry Pi to trigger the frame?

  • Hi Badeea,

May I know what is the reason to use Hardware Trigger with AWR1843BOOST?

AWR1843 is autonomous sensor where embedded application needs to configure the RF-front and DSP/HWA on the device will do the radar signal processing and provide the object results.

  • I want to automate a data collection sweep and the trigger seems like a good option. I assumed since it's in the GUI it's available for use and i was looking for more details on how it works.

  • Hi Badeea,

the hardware triggered mode has strict timing requirements for it to function as desired. Please look at the Radar ICD in the MMWAVE-DFP for more details about the hardware triggered mode.

As AWR1843 is single chips sensor, you have the complete control of starting or stopping of the data collection .You can use some GPIOs in  the device to trigger  datacollection when the sensor is started and stop it when the sensor is stopped.

    Thanks,

    Raghu
