OPT3101: Adding hardware

Part Number: OPT3101

Hello,

I'm trying to develop my own ToF sensor and I would like to use a laser diode that requires more power than OPT3101 can provide at its TX_x channels. Can I add my own hardware to power up my laser? how is the best approach?

If it is posible, can I calibrate my hardware delay? how?

Thanks

  • Hi,

You can use the OPT3101 like this using an external driver to supply more current. Delay can be calibrated through phase offset calibration, but the driver needs to be able to produce the correct 10MHz modulation waveform on the emitter. In reducing the crosstalk to usable levels you may need to do some iteration as this is not an option we have explored in depth. You would want to understand the layout guidelines in the system design doc posted online and apply those concepts to the design of your board.

    Best,

    Alex

  • Hello,

    Ok, thanks of your help.
