IWR1642: IWR1642 human body detection

Part Number: IWR1642

Dear TI Team:
My client would like to ask whether TI's mm wave is applied in indoor human body detection scene. The client hopes to switch of lights after human body detection, and at the same time, he hopes that the cat or dog will not trigger the response when it is detected. At the same time, the customer hopes to achieve dimming only through mm wave. I think an ambient light sensor is also needed, is that right?

   Thanks!

Regards!

Eric

  • Hi Eric,

You can use the people counting demo to determine when a person enters or exits the area. This software could detect pets, as there is no classifier to determine the difference between a person or pet. However, pets (dogs and cats) generate much fewer radar detection points than a person, so pets can be filtered this way.

mmWave cannot tell how much light is in the room, so if that is necessary, they will need another sensor.

    Regards,

    Justin
