LDC1614EVM: LDC1614 EVM Mounting issue

Part Number: LDC1614EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1614, MSP430FR2355,

Hi,

I'm using LDC1614 EVM Inductance sensor with MSP430FR2355 Launchpad.

Recently , I need to use only LDC1614 chip , utilize all 4 ADC channels , break the debugger and coils parts and place the sensor on the MSP430 booster packs using a sandwich board between both.

the issue is there is no mounting holes on the that part of EVM.

is there a better way for the sensor to be packaged on the MSP launchpad and get a mechanically stable design at the same time?

Regards,

  • Hello,

The LDC1614EVM wasn't mechanically designed to interface with the launchpad, so as you noted there's no easy way to connect them. I think your best bet is to keep the LDC1614 board on a flat surface and solder a header to the through-hole connector footprint for the digital communication. Then you can use wires to connect the launchpad and the LDC1614. If you don't need to be able to swap out the connections, you could always solder wires directly to both boards.

I recommend keeping your sensors on a flat surface as well.

    Best Regards,
