LDC1612EVM: LDC1612EVM

Part Number: LDC1612EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LDC1612

In the LDC1612 EVM can we use two external sensors with same frequencies?

If No then why we have to use different frequencies.

  • Hello,

If you are using two channels on the same LDC1612, the channels will not be driven at the same time, so you can use sensors with the same resonant frequency. The LDC161x grounds all channels that are not actively being measured.

If you are using two different LDC1612 devices and the channels could be driven at the same time, you could either separate the sensors by frequency or by distance. If you separate them by distance, space them apart by at least two coil diameters. The reason this separation is needed is because the AC magnetic field from one sensor is within the pass-band of the other sensor, so the energy can couple into the other sensor and interfere with the measurement. Separating the pass-bands or physically separating the magnetic fields mitigates this effect.

    Best Regards,

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the Clarification!

Please can you clarify the reason why the two channels will not be driven at the same time in LDC1612 ?
