IWR1642BOOST: mmWave Studio

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DCA1000EVM,

Dear Technical Support,

I would like to configure the IWR1642BOOST in Continuous Wave (CW) instead of FMCW and without using DCA1000EVM board.

I read in the mmWave Studio guide that it is possible to configure the sensor in CW mode.

My question is: is it possible to get the source code of this GUI to know how to setup the sensor to run in CW mode?

Thanks.

Best regards.

Anthony Pesin.

  • Hi Anthony,

I've asked an expert to look into this and we should have an answer for you in the next few days.

  • Hi, Anthony:

The SDK processes the received signal in chirp and then in frames.  In your CW mode, are you still have this chirp and frame structure?   Then all of the signal processing will be different.   You will not be able to reuse much of the code in the SDK.    I do not see why you would like to devote a lot of code development time at this initial stage.  I suggest you to go through DCA1000 capture card.

  • Hi Zigang,

    Thanks for your reply.

I was thinking of setting the chirps to be flat, I mean sizing the bandwidth to be equal to 0 (Stop frequency = Start frequency) in a very easy way  but it appears to be not possible: do you confirm?

Concerning the DCA1000EVM, I do not see the relation in between this card and my initial request to set the sensor in CW mode: please could you clarify?

    Thanks for your support.

    Best regards.

    Anthony

  • Hi, Anthony:

SDK release does not support CW mode.    But radar studio support CW mode data capture through DCA1000 or TSW1400.  Use "ConstStream" tab below,

  • Hi Zigang,

    Thanks for your reply.

I have just received the DCA1000 and I am facing some issues when I try to configure it (SPI no connection). I have open a new thread to deal with this topic.

I will test your proposal once I am able to setup the 2 boards correctly.

    Best regards.

    Anthony.
