CCS/AWR1443BOOST: Vital signs demo

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, , MMWAVE-SDK

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi
I am trying to run the vital signs demo on Awr 1443 Boost Es3.0 board but the GUI seems to not work properly.
i am using code composer studio version 9.1 and have downloaded the industrial toolbox version(mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_0_1).
So far i have been going as per the pdf attached and i have successfully uploaded the prebuilt binary file (xwr14xx_vitalSigns_lab_mss) to the EVM.
I am able to successfully open the gui from the toolbox but the gui doesnot show any values or plots. i have tried looking up for the problem in support forum and i found out that the es3.0 works with industrial toolbox 3.3.1 only but the toolbox is not available at this time.
please let me know how to proceed with the demo.

regards

Aabid

  • Please find the PDF here that i am trying to follow:8400.vitalSignsLab_xwr1443_QuickStartGuide.pdf

  • Hi,

You can download an earlier version of the Industrial Toolbox.

At the bottom of the Industrial Toolbox please see:

"How to access previous Industrial Toolbox versions"

    Thank you

    Cesar

  • Thank You cesar for such a quick response.

I tried using the industrial Toolbox 3.3.1 but the GUI still does not work
does the same GUI work for both AWR and IWR boards?
what can be the possible issue i am having?

  • Hi Aabid,

Make sure you follow the instructions in the Vital Signs Developer's Guide.

You should use the latest version of the mmWave Industrial Toolbox.

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Hi Akash. Thank You for your quick response.

there is firstly the issue of flashing two binary files to awr1443boost device using uniflash which is not working.
Then i tried flashing the demo file alone and it was uploaded successfully.
Can you please help me with this issue as to how can i upload two binary files to the device using the uniflash tool. I have tried doing it multiple times as mentioned in the Vital signs developers guide but it is not working.

The second issue i am facing is with the GUI which is not showing anything but it think we will have to address the first issue and then work on the second one.

Also i tried using the latest toolbox Industrial toolbox 4.0.1 and automotive toolbox 2.5.0. i flashed the prebuilt binary files for the demos of the labs available in these toolboxes but the gui's still dont work.

    Regards
    Aabid

  • Hi Aabid,

You only need to flash one binary on the device. I'll reiterate that you should follow the instructions in the Developer's Guide as these queries are all answered here.

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Hi Aakash.
    Hope you are doing fine.
I have followed the developers guide and so far i am able to complete all the steps as per the developers guide but i am stuck at the GUI again.
I have used the board in debug mode with ccs version 9 and industrial toolbox 4.0.1.
the only error i get is shown in the ccs and it is "Error: mmWave Open failed -203554190"
    Please see the screenshots attached.

  • Hi. Aakash
As i found that in one of the threads you have mentioned that only the industrial toolbox 3.3.1 supports ES3.0 devices. So as my device is AWR1443Boost i tried using the this toolbox as well but i got the same error as mentioned in the previous reply to this post.

Is there anything that can be done to resolve the issue?
In the developers guide there is no mention of which toolbox has been used in the demo. can i know exactly which toolbox version had been used in the demo?
Also i want to know if the prebuilt .xer4f file is to be used in the demo or the one that is generated in the workspace after rebuilding the project

    Regards
    Aabid Farooq

  • Hi Aabid,

It should not matter which toolbox you use, we'll recommend using the latest toolbox 4.0.1.

What does matter is using the mmWave-SDK 2.1 (LTS version). Please make sure you have this version installed and are flashing the correct ccs-debug binary over using UNIFLASH.

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Hi Aakash

I double checked the mmwave sdk version i am using and it the same as you have mentioned above 2.1 (LTS version).

Do i need to use the prebuilt binaries that come with the toolbox or shall i upload those which are generated in the workspace of the CCS after recompiling the project?

    regards.
