IWR6843: Unable to flash or run mmwave demo on an IWR6843ISK . MMWAVEICEBOOST with IWR6843ISK.

Part Number: IWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH, MMWAVE-SDK,

I have trouble with both flashing the demo binary to the IWR6843ISK as well as running the mmwave demo.

Using uniflash, I am unable to flash the board with mmwave demo binary. I have also had very limited success running the mmwave demo app from the web or the standalone.

With the mmwave demo, I spin on connecting to 2 of 2 targers.

When attempting to use uniflash I am unable to connect to the XDS110 Class Application/User UART receiving error: ERROR] Cortex_R4_0: Serial port COM5 specified does not exist, is already open, or permission is denied!!

I'll try be as descriptive as possible. I have installed the mmwave 3.03 SDK. I have tried UNIFLASH using chrome, firefox, local build and in linux. I have the SOP0 and SOP2 jumpers on when attempting to flash. I remove SOP2 when attempting to run the demo. As best I can tell, I have the devkit in a stock standard configuration.  I have tried running UNIFLASH locally on windows as adminstrator. I have tried power cycling as well as using the nRST button.

The drivers for the XDS110 seem a bit of a mystery. Currently I have selected the following drivers manually for the Application/User UART and the Aux Data Port shown in the pictures.

I am attempting to flash the following binary located here:

C:\ti\mmwave_sdk_03_03_00_03\packages\ti\demo\xwr68xx\mmw\xwr68xx_mmw_demo.bin

  • Hi Christopher,

It appears that your IWR6843 is ES1.0 silicon, the new IWR6843ISK boards are equipped with ES2.0 silicon for which mmWave-SDK 3.3 is compatible with.

For your ES1.0 board you can still use the mmWave-SDK 3.2 with the demo from the Industrial Toolbox version 3.6.2.

Let me know if you have more questions.

    Cheers,

    Akash
