Hi, I am having trouble getting the data config tag to connect on the DCA1000 with the AWR1642BOOST. This is my output file from trying to set the RadarAPI.

  • Hi,

    It looks like RS232 is not connected.

    Please make sure you are selecting the correct COM port. Try a different USB cable

    For the next step (SPI connection)

    Please make sure that S2 switch selects SPI interface

    See Section 2.7.4 Selection Between SPI and CAN Interface

    I changed the cables and checked the switch to make sure it was on SPI and it is but I am still getting the same errors and the RS232 is still not connected.

    Please read through the log file that mmWave Studio provides. The log clearly states that:

    "Status: Failed, Error Type: REGULAR ADC MODE NOT SUPPORTED IN 5 MHz PART VARIANT DEVICE"

    That means you need to enable low power mode for the ADC on AWR1642. This is the reason you are getting a timeout.

    Why don't you try using the latest version of mmWave Studio, version 2.1, that is available online? 

    Furthermore, you can use the capture demo script "DataCaptureDemo_xWR.lua" to see if you can successfully configure your device. This script is found in this folder directory.

    C:\ti\mmwave_studio_02_01_00_00\mmWaveStudio\Scripts

    Make sure you have jumpers across SOP0 and SOP1.

    You should follow the instructions that are included in the "docs' folder of mmWave Studio. Refer to the DCA1000 Quick Start Guide.

    I would try to run the SDK Out-of-Box Demo on your AWR1642BOOST to make sure there is not an issue with your AWR1642BOOST EVM. You can use the Online Demo Visualizer Tool that is found here: https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer/ver/3.2.0/

    You will need to download SDK v3.2 which can be found here: http://software-dl.ti.com/ra-processors/esd/MMWAVE-SDK/03_02_00_04/index_FDS.html

  • I downloaded and installed SDK v3.2 but when I try to run the demo visualizer v3.2 it says that the SDK platforms don't match. I was able to get v2.1 of the demo visualizer to run on my AWR1642BOOST though, but this version of the demo visualizer seems to be down now.

    I'm not seeing anything that sticks out as being a problem with this console output. All of the commands respond with "Done." If there had been an issue, the CLI output would say there was an error. So I'm not sure if you're reporting an error when using the Out-of-Box Demo or reporting that the demo is working correctly.

  • I'm not sure if the top half of the out-of-box demo is supposed to be skipped on the demo visualizer. If it is supposed to be then that would mean that my AWR1642BOOST is working properly and it's either the software or the DCA1000 EVM that isn't working properly.
