IWR6843ISK: Radome boost signal

Hi Ti,

In our lab, I have IWR6843ISK aiming towards big metal corner reflector (e.g 5m apart). There are no other object at 5m distance. I use mmWaveDemoVisualizer to visualize Relative Power (dB) of the reflector. I would like to use this graph to estimate correct thickness of the radome wall. Unfortunately it seems that the graph is adjusting in some way - when I place radome in front of the radar, the energy from corner reflector always rises (which is I guess not possible).

Is there any way I can display true value of the peaks?

Hi Lukas,

is it possible that your radome is acting as a lens and changing the gain of the antenna?

I was also curious if this is possible. But I have flat radomes with constant thickness. Moreover, signal boost can be seen in huge range of angular positions (e.g -25 to 25 degrees).

First I need to be sure what exactly the Relative Power of Range Profile for Zero Doppler graph (in mmWaveDemoVisualizer) shows.

I'm still confused, there is no good explanation of Relative Power.

Is the graph somehow scaled when I place the radome or not? Looking at the 0 bin of the spectrum it does not look like.

Then it would mean the signal is really focused/boosted (but it seems too much to be believable).
