IWR1642BOOST: Power Consumption and Using Solar Panels to Power It

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST

Hello to moderators and fellow forumers. I have a question related to the mmWave

How do we calculate the power consumption of the mmWave IWRBoost Sensor as we are trying to do some testing in areas without power supply.

Have anyone uses solar panels to drive the sensor in an outdoor environment?

Thanks in advance for the suggestions and experience.

  • Hello Ad Lim,

It depends upon the amount of power available from the sensor panels and also configuration (Such as number of TX, RX, Sampling rate, no. of chirps, Frame rate  etc.) used for the mmWave sensor.

Depending upon your application you could configure mmWave sensor and for that configuraiton you could estimate the power consumed from the sensor from the below power calculator tool.
