IWR6843: regarding the out of box SDK demo

Part Number: IWR6843
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , , MMWAVE-SDK,

Hi,  The mmwave SDK out of box demo for the IWR6843 EVM consists of two versions that is one is by using the on chip DSP and HWA (on-chip Hardware Accelerator) which is supported by IWR6843ISK.  The other one is just by using the HWA(on-chip Hardware Accelerator) supported by IWR6843ISK and IWR6843AOPEVM.  May i know how these two different software versions of the out of box SDK influence the output of the sensor.

The out of box demo for the IWR6843ISKODS is a point cloud visualizer through which the output of the sensor can be visualized in the zone occupancy visualizer lab GUI. May I know why isn't their a SDK for the IWR6843ISKODS which enables visualization of the output in the web-based mmWave Demo Visualizer.

  • Hi Shravan,

    Please find the answers below:

    1. May i know how these two different software versions of the out of box SDK influence the output of the sensor:
      1. Both variants of the OOB demo processing chain provide the same output format which is described in the html documentation available in the SDK docs directory.
      2. Note that the IWR6843AOPEVM is supported by a separate version of MMWAVE-SDK which is MMWAVE-SDK-AOP and only the xwr64xx mmw demo from this SDK is compatible with the IWR6843AOPEVM. You will also need to use a different version of the mmWaveDemoVisualizer with the IWR6843AOPEVM:  https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer_IWR6843AOP
    2. May I know why isn't their a SDK for the IWR6843ISKODS which enables visualization of the output in the web-based mmWave Demo Visualizer:
      1. The IWR6843ISK-ODS differs from the IWR6843ISK only in terms of the antenna pattern, so from a device perspective, the ISK-ODS can be used with the MMWAVE-SDK.
      2. At this point, the SDK does not include an Out of Box demo chain for the ISK-ODS which involves changes in the Angle of Arrival algorithm for the ISK-ODS antenna pattern.

    Thanks

    -Nitin
