AWR1243: AWR1243 FMCW CLKOUT / SYNCOUT

Part Number: AWR1243

Unused FMCW CLKOUT/SYNCOUT signal, recommended to end with 50 ohm resistor. If this signal is extracted from the RF connector for testing, does the RF connector need to be connected with 50 ohms to match the load in use?If it is not connected, does it mean that the pin is suspended? Does it affect the function of the chip?

  • Hello,

For doing any RF measurement on the FM CW SYNCOUT or CLKOUT lines you would need to you a 50 ohms impedance receiver on the other side.

Are you trying to just trying to monitor these signals or are you also trying to feed these back to AWR device? Can you provide the exact configuration on the AWR side for this experiment?

  • Hello,

As shown in the figure below, I just want to monitor the slave's FMCW_SYNOUT during debugging. When the RF connector is not under load, will it affect the chip function?

  • Having the SYNCOUT connected to the connector will not impact the functionality as such. But if there is any coupling from SYNCOUT to SYNCIN due to board routing , it could impact the  performance.
