PGA305: About Programming temperature

Hi Team,

We would like to know Programming temperature(-40℃ to 140℃).

[Q1]

Why is " Programming temperature " different from " Operating ambient temperature "?

[Q2]

We understand that if we access “Control and Status Registers”(Not EEPROM), Recommended Operating temperature is -40℃ to 150℃.

Is my understanding correct?

Hello Hide,

The EEPROM programming procedure draws extra current which increases the self-heating of the PGA305. This means the die will be hotter during the EEPROM programming than it would be under the same conditions without programming, so the tolerance for ambient external temperature is lower.

I have one more question.

I would like to know the extra current value.

However, I found 6mA and 9mA in the datasheet.

Which is a correct value?

Hello Hide,

Programming results in an additional 6mA of current on top of the ~2.5mA of typical operating current. 6mA + 2.5mA = 8.5mA of total current which was just rounded up to 9mA for a maximum.
