AWR1642: What are the minimum unambiguous range and accuracy limits of the AWR1642 device

Part Number: AWR1642
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843

I'm developing an application where I need to detect objects from 5 to 50 cm away with an accuracy of app 5 cm. Can the AWR1642 do it? Is the AWR1843 better?

Thanks

Tom

  • Hi,

The AWR1642 should be able to do that.

There are 2 things to take into consideration

    • may need to remove DC Antenna Coupling Signature from first range bin
Please see mmwave SDK documentation, section "Antenna Coupling Signature Removal"
      file:///C:/ti/mmwave_sdk_03_03_00_03/packages/ti/datapath/dpu/rangeproc/docs/doxygen/html/index.html
    • perform "Near Field Correction" as described in

                 file:///C:/ti/mmwave_sdk_02_01_00_04/packages/ti/demo/xwr16xx/mmw/docs/doxygen/html/index.html

    Thank you
