HDC2080: HDC2080 Feasibility for IP Rated Device

Part Number: HDC2080

Hi

We are using the HDC2080 sensor for Ambient Temperature and Humidity measurement. The enclosure is IP67 rated. We are getting a high response time of around 50mins.

Query 1: Is is this suitable for the IP rated mechanical.

Query 2: In datasheet I can only find the response time of Humidity. What is the response time of the sensor if it is directly exposed to the ambient environment. For example the current ambient temperature of the environment is 10°C and suddenly it changes to 60°C then in what time does the sensor will be able to judge this and respond to the change. Is there any document in which this testing is done and i can refer.

  • Dear Shivam -

For #1, The IP rating you call out targeting and the response time you are getting indicates you have done a good job sealing the enclosure, as there does not seem to be easy air exchange occurring, hence the longer response time.

For #2, the sensor will react very fast to a change in environment. The overall settling time might be around 40 seconds for a large change - and you can see this in the first graph like what i have below, which is measuring the sensor when the heater is turned on and then off, you can see how quickly the sensor temp goes up and %RH goes down -

In this image is the sensor tracking the references very closely, to give you more of an idea of how it will behave.
