AWR1443BOOST: Swipe Detection

Part Number: AWR1443BOOST

Hi,

We are trying to design swipe detection algorithm for R-L-R and L-R-L detection as this is our application's requirement. Basically we are using simply x coordinates to differentiate between two different swipes.

We are getting proper results that is proper change in x coordinates when there is no any other strong object in front of radar other than hand of a person. But when it is there lets say person performing swipe is in front radar, values of x are not as per expectation. What can be the reason behind it?

I am attaching .avi files showing both behaviors. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks & Regards,
Rajeshwari

    Hello,

The attachments aren’t working for me but as you identified the issue is when there are other strong reflectors in the scene I would suggest that you need to improve your algorithm to handle this.

The reason why the issue occurs  and ways to resolve the issue depends on your algorithm so the advice we can give is limited. I would suggest that you consider whether filtering out points by Doppler, SNR, or location will help you track only the motion of the hand and not the person’s body.
