AWR1642BOOST: What's the function of DMM on AWR1642?

Part Number: AWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, , DCA1000EVM

Hello, I want to layout my PCB board use awr1642 ,  and I want to use my board with DCA1000 and mmwavestudio to capture radar data, can I remove the DMM interface on J1 (60pin) ? what's the function of DMM?

  • Hi,

J1 connector on AWR1642BOOST provides many other feature pins, like LVDS, JTAG, I2C, SPI etc.

If you need to connect your custom board with DCA1000EVM and capture the raw data using mmWave Studio then you need at least LVDS, SPI and reset lines.

You can remove J1 connector and use small pin-set interface on your PCB to connect these lines (using some converter) to 60pin MIPI connector to DCA1000EVM

Below is the snapshot of J1 where required pins are marked.

If you need to use mmWaveStudio with device in SOP-2 mode then that needs to be done on your PCB itself.

DMM is data modification module where you can feed in the stored ADC data to AWR1642 (adc buffer) and verify you DSP algo. This interface you can remove for capture scenario.
