In IWR6843, TI provides the capability of static clutter removal. I have some question on this feature.
1. Is there a way to disable such a feature? If so, how can I disable it?
2. If it is enable, does it mean all the static targets would be filtered filtered out? In other words, do you separate static target from static clutter?
3. As a user, can I specify a threshold value so that only those static clutters whose SNR is below this threshold would be removed?
Thanks!
Hello,
Yes, We could disable static clutter, Typically static clutters are objects at zero velocity bins.
Please refer to mmWave visualizer userguide.

3) You could use CFAR threshold adjustment to get a valid detection. This is a trade off w.r.t. weak object detection vs false detection.
If you have high CFAR threshold, then only strong object would be detected, but you will have lessor falls detection probability, If you reduce CFAR threshold then you will be able to detect weaker objects but along with there could be false detection due to multiple reflections. Hence it's a trade-off you need to choose based on your application needs.

Hi CHETHAN
Thanks for your quick response.
If the static clutter removal is enable, the sensor doesn't output all the stationary targets that are at zero velocity bins, correct?
Also, would you please let me know which parameter in configuration file is used to control CFAR threshold?
Thanks!
Kai
Hello Kai,
Yes, your understanding is correct, If the static clutter removal is enable, the sensor doesn't output all the stationary targets that are at zero velocity bins.
For the CFAR threshold you could refer to the mmWave SDK user-guide, in the command configuration itself you could adjust the CFAR threshold.
You could refer to below screenshot from the SDK user guide..
