IWR6843ISK: No output for PMIC_1V8 after using some time

Part Number: IWR6843ISK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP87702

Hi,

My customer connected IWR6843ISK to their system but after some time, they found 4pcs of ISK can't work ok.

I have checked the issue ISKs and found the voltage of 1.8V output from PMIC LP87702 is 0v, but 1.2V output is ok. The resistance value of the inductor L4 on issue board is similar as the one on working board. Customer connects the 3.3V power supply/ some GPIO/ UART/NREST signals from ISK connector to their system. No 1.8v from PMIC.

What may cause such issue? Any further debug suggestion?

  • Chris,

It may be good idea to post this question in the power management forum (link below) to seek advice from the PMIC team.

Could you please help us to understand, what was the circumstance which led to PMIC failure?

If the power supply's were not used correctly (Wrong voltage /Current ratings), ESD handling, Board modification or interface to another board etc, may lead to device malfunction.

Another main aspect is not all the I/Os are fail-safe I/Os. Customer should not power the I/Os and associated pull up and pull downs (For example SOP lines, UART pull ups) without power supply to the device. Power supply sequencing is important otherwise it may damage the board and device. Typically one need to observe "power good" condition for the device before you apply signalling to the (GPIO/ UART/NREST) device, Including applying power to pull up and pull downs.

    Thanks and regards,
