AWR1843BOOST: Active reflectors

Part Number: AWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1843

Hey All,

So I'm working on a project to fuse a 140 FOV camera with the AWR1843. I have been using a tetrahedral corner detector as a target in order to relate both the sensors, but have faced a snag where I'm not able to generate points further than 2-3 meters from the radar without getting points from other objects.

I started looking onto active reflectors, and was wondering if you guys have any recommendation on buying an active reflector?

Also, can a signal generator, with a frequency range of 77 to 99 GHz, work as an Active reflector along with an antenna?

Regards.

  • Hello Varun,

If you have one strong corner reflector and want to avoid detection of other weaker objects around you can increase the detection threshold in your application.

By active reflector do you mean something like a target simulator? There are some standard radar target simulators available in the market which you can explore. A signal generator cannot act as a target, the signal from the Tx itself needs to be taken and sent to the receiver.

    Regards,
    Vivek

  • Hey Vivek,

Thank you so much for the reply. Yes, i mean a target simulator only. Basically I was struggling to get the radar to detect my corner reflector further than 10 meters, without getting lots of interference from other objects around, so thats why we were looking into other ways to get readings from the radar.

Do you know any target simulators which you recommend I use?

    Regards,

    Varun

  • Hello Varun,

I would not be able to recommend a specific target simulator here, but you can look online there are many available.

    regards,

    Vivek
