LDC1000: Anomaly identification in Metal

Part Number: LDC1000

Greetings,

Just came across LDC sensors. Need to know if these can work in my use case or not.

I am working on a project where i want to know if there is an abnormality on the metal surface like a hump or crack. Hump can vary from 1mm to  10mm. Metal being used is Mild Steel. Need to know if LDC suits my use case or need to find any other sensor of the same.

Thanks

  • Hello Aditya,

This E2E question is similar and may help you:

I highly recommend reading the LDC FAQ linked below to determine if your application is suitable for LDC devices.

Finally, please note that the LDC1000 is currently in lifetime buy and will end-of-life shortly. I recommend using one of our newer LDC devices instead.

    Best Regards,

  • Thanks for reply Kristin,

Actually I have done some testing using the evm board of LDC1000 and was pretty much able to get distance and teeth count. But was not able to have any response for anomaly detection. Any help will be highly appreciated.

    Thanks

  • Hello Aditya,

We do not have any experience with the anomaly detection application specifically, but we may be able to provide general inductive sensing advice that will help. Can you describe your setup?
