IWR6843AOPEVM: Not able to connect to serial port

Hi,

I use IWR6843AOP, connected to PC on USB1. I have all the newest drivers and softwares (CCS, etc) but the serial ports still don't work. I tried many things from the forums but nothing solved this issue yet so I can't flash the unit neither. Could you please check?

Hello,

Can you provide picture of the front and back of the EVM to show your switch settings and the screenshot of your device manager so we can see the COM port numbers?

Hello,

The switches and COM port look correct. Can I ask whether you are toggling the NRST switch before clicking the Load button for flashing?

Hello,

Have you tried restarting the PC? Sometimes if you Uniflash crashed it does not release the COM port to be connected to again.

Can you use a terminal such as TeraTerm to connect to the COM15 port at 115200 baud rate? Are you able to connect to the COM port (please make sure any other program that may be open that could use the COM port is closed) - if yes, hit the return/enter key. You should see a prompt appear. Then type 'version'.

This is to check whether the PC can communicate via COM port and decouple any Uniflash issues.

Also do you have a mmWaveICBOOST EVM? This gives us other debug options if you do.

Hello Amanda,

Something happened - after a PC restart it works! Although I did it more times, now it's done, demo is on.

But I have new issue with the visualizer, the connection doesn't work here neither, as shown on the picture. Could you please check?

I changed the SOP2 switch to OFF because of the functional mode setting requests.

Yes, I have the MMWAVEICBOOST, if it's better I can try to debug with that.

If you are having trouble connecting to the visualizer after flashing, I would suggest that you try:

1. Unplug the USB and restart the PC.

2. Set SOP2 to off for functional mode. Connect USB and power up EVM. Hit NRST.

3. Open visualizer: https://dev.ti.com/gallery/view/mmwave/mmWave_Demo_Visualizer_IWR6843AOP/ver/1.0.0/

4. Setup serial port. You only need for COM15 (the cfg port) to show as connected. The data port will not show as connected until you send the cfg file.

Please try replicating the above and let me if it resolves the issue.
