SPIO-4: maximum number of LMP91000EVM boards that can be connected?

Hello!

LMP91000EVM user guide says that it connects to the SPIO4 board through the SPIO-GPSI16 connector. There is only 1 header for this and it seems that only one LMP91000EVM can be connected to SPIO4.

However, I was wondering if it's possible to have 2 LMP91000EVMs connected to SPIO4 because the SPIO-4 user guide mentions in section 2.5 that the upper portion can be used if bidirectional signals are required by the DUT.

Dear Elisha -

to have multiple LMP91000 devices on one bus, the MENB pin must be controlled by MCU/MPU (controller/processor)

Figure 30 on page 24 here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lmp91000.pdf shows this arrangement. As there is only one MENB pin on the SPIO-4 header (SPIO-GPSI16), i think it will be difficult to connect more than one set of boards at a time - you would be better using the MSP430 or other MCU as controller interface route, in which you could freely control multiple GPIO pins for MENB pin control on each LMP91000 device and realize a multiple sensor system with one controller.

Thank you, Josh. One more question though - can MSP430 possibly accommodate 4 LMP91000EVM?

Dear Elisha -

I think so - it will require a little work on your side - the MSP430F552x and MSP430F22x parts have enough ADC channels to handle this - if you want to go around the ADC onboard the EVM - otherwise, you might have to work out the handling of the multiple SPIs needed otherwise.
