Hello Guys,

Good day.

We have a customer asking if TUSS4470/TUSS4440 can be use for Ultrasonic Anemometer application.
If not, does TI have other product offerings that can be use for such application?

TI itself has not developed a reference design around ultrasonic anemometering. However, I do suspect the TUSS44x0 devices are the most feasible option for this application. Depending on the time of flight delta resolution required by anemometer, the TUSS44x0 can be paired with a variety of microcontrollers or the TDC7200 to capture the TUSS44x0's O4 pin echo interrupt toggle on an MCU GPIO pin with a capture/compare timer feature.

Note: the TUSS44x0 devices were mainly developed for time of flight range measurements. However, auxiliary applications such as flow metering, flaw detection, wind speed/direction, etc. are still being considered and explored by TI.
