IWR1443: Is Rx running before Tx StartTime?

Part Number: IWR1443

HI,

I am trying to get RawData in the following way.

1) Set ADC Start Time to 7μs and Tx Start Time to 25μs.

2 )Since the ADC is started before transmission, raw data effective only for Rx can be obtained in the first half of sampling.

3) Since transmission is started in the latter half of sampling, raw data can be obtained by a normal IF signal.

There is a question about 2), is Rx enabled before Tx transmission starts?

Below is the raw data graph obtained for one chirp.

Best Regards,

Takuma

A large spectrum is generated by the start of Tx transmission, but both sides are before and after the start of transmission, respectively.

If 2) is correct, the left side of the graph should be valid data only for Rx.

  • Hi Takuma,

I've asked an expert to look into this and we should have an answer for you in the next few days.

    Cheers,

    Akash

  • Hi Akash,

    Thank you for your support.

For your reference, I will send the Cfg  I used in raw data capture.

    channelCfg 15 7 0
    adcCfg 2 1
    adcbufCfg 0 0 1 1
    profileCfg 0 77 210 7 48.98 0 0 15 25 256 6250 0 0 30
    chirpCfg 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 1
    chirpCfg 1 1 0 0 0 0 0 2
    chirpCfg 2 2 0 0 0 0 0 4
    frameCfg 0 2 16 0 100 1 0

I'm looking forward to your answer.

    Best Regards,

    Takuma

  • Takuma-san,

Above signature is expected, As ADC Start Time set to 7μs even before the power amplifier is enabled (Tx start during the power amplifier would be enabled) PA is enabled at 25us hence till then you would not see any reflection from the object.

Your understanding is correct, receiver is enabled before the Transmitter in this case. You could obtain raw data but till the power amplifier is enabled the data will not have any radar signature, it would be idle channel noise of the receiver.

For the 2nd Question your observation is correct, as stated above, left side of the graph is receiver's idle channel data.

    Thanks and regards,

    CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.

  • Hi Chethan-san,

    Thank you for your reply.

I'd like to get background noise data in Rx channel, so I'll try to Raw data capture by above process.

    Best Regards,

    Takuma
