IWR6843ISK-ODS: surrounding components on IWR6843ISK-ODS

Part Number: IWR6843ISK-ODS
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR6843

Hello ,

According to circuit diagram of IWR6843ISK-ODS, there is a EEPROM and a flash memory.

1. Regarding flash memory, I suppose IWR6843 can be worked without external MCU / SoC when power supply is applied if the flash memory is mounted. Am I right ?

Is it required by demonstrations in "Industrial Toolbox - 4.2.0" like "people counting" ?

2. Regarding EEPROM, Please kindly let me know the purpose and whether it is required or not by demonstrations in "Industrial Toolbox - 4.2.0" like "people counting".

Best regards,

Taka

  • Hi Taka,

I've asked an expert to look into this and we should have an answer for you in the next few days.

    Cheers,

  • Hello Takatoshi-san

        1)  For your first question, Yes your understanding is correct.

People counting binary could be flashed in the external QSPI flash (MX25V1635FZNQ) and will be read by the mmWave sensor during the boot process and will execute this program and will be able to run applications such as people counting as stated in Industrial Toolbox - 4.2.0.

    2) EEPROM (CAT24C08WI-GT3) is not part of the people counting demo application,  Its meant for board tracking and Auto detection purpose, this feature has been been enabled yet in the software. Hence you could choose to ignore this flash as far as people counting application is concern.

  • Hello CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.,

    Thank you for your message.

I am fine if you can explain how/when to utilize EEPROM. (If there is no clear purpose, I may not prepare EEPROM in my design.)

    Best regards,

    Taka

  • Hello Taka-san

Currently EEPROM functionality has not been enabled yet in the software. Sorry for the typo on the previous thread, Hence you may need not use the EEPROM in your design.

    Thanks and regards,

    CHETHAN KUMAR Y.B.
