LDC0851: Increase sensors to target distance and sensitivity

Hello,

Is it possible to sense target with LDC0851 in 12 mm distance? Which factors mostly increase sensitivity over distance? Is it size of the coil, is it distance between coils? 

We want to use stacked approach with 4 layer PCB.

    Hi Mindaugas,

    Yes, I think this would be possible. I used the LDC Tools Excel Calculator to verify that the coil size you would need (~40mm diameter) is within the LDC0851 design space. I recommend looking through the top of the inductive sensing FAQ linked below to verify that your target will work for inductive sensing. The sensing distance is based on the outer diameter of the coils. This is also discussed in more detail in the FAQ.
