IWR1843BOOST: Comparing IWR1843Boost and IWR1443Boost

Part Number: IWR1843BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1443BOOST, , IWR1443, IWR1843

Hi Everyone,

We are comparing IWR1843Boost and IWR1443Boost. would like to know more about IWR1843Boost as less information is available.

1) Is data parsing strategy same for IWR1843Boost and IWR1443Boost wrt to zone occupancy application (including peak value info)?
2) Is there any significant impact of relatively lower IF of IWR1843Boost (10 MHz) as compared to IWR1443Boost (15 MHz) ?
3) Please point us to example codes for IWR1843Boost (Industrial toolbox like material)!
4) Can we use this board in the range of 0.5 – 6 meters for effective zone occupancy application ?
5) Is hardware trigger available for IWR1843Boost ?
Thank you,
AA

    1) Is data parsing strategy same for IWR1843Boost and IWR1443Boost wrt to zone occupancy application (including peak value info)?
[Yogesh] Zone occupancy is based on the OOB demo for IWR1443 and IWR1843. So the TLV may differ. But you should be able to update the GUI to reflect the changes
    2) Is there any significant impact of relatively lower IF of IWR1843Boost (10 MHz) as compared to IWR1443Boost (15 MHz) ?
[Yogesh] What are the parameters that are of concern. We can provide the info on the same.
    3) Please point us to example codes for IWR1843Boost (Industrial toolbox like material)!
[Yogesh] Currently we support only OOB demo and labs that uses OOB demo for 18xx:
    4) Can we use this board in the range of 0.5 – 6 meters for effective zone occupancy application ?
    [Yogesh] Yes
    5) Is hardware trigger available for IWR1843Boost ?
    [Yogesh] Yes
    Thanks

  • Thank you very much for a quick response Yogesh,

Regarding point#2, We are interested in Peak Value and Position parameters.

    Thanks,

    AA

  • Hi,

That will not be impacted by I/F.

    Thanks

    Yogesh

  • Thanks Yogesh,

That makes me comfortable to switch to IWR1843boost.

Last point .... number of objects detected per frame are max 64 in IWR1443 what about IWR1843?

Will I get same number of objects (max) per frame?

    Thank you,

    AA

  • Hi AA,

The max number of object/points that can be detected in a frame for  IWR1843 is 500.

    #define DPC_OBJDET_MAX_NUM_OBJECTS                       500U

    Thankls

    Yogesh

  • Hello TI team and everyone else,

This is related to max detected objects/points (500) with IWR1843BOOST.

     (1) Does it gives binned like data from a given object (fixed spacing between point co-ordinates along with X, Y  and /or Z axis? If yes, what will be the spacing?

    (2) If I restrict the angle of arrival (such that I will be to image 30 x 30 cm at close distance ), will I get all 500 points within my restricted angles?

    Thanks for reply.

    Regards,

    Jaidip.

  • Hi Jaidip,

I am not able to understand the question completely. Could you please provide some context or use case to help us understand.

    Thanks
