Hello.

I am working with the AWR1642 sensor and more specifically with the vehicle occupancy demo that gives out the range azimuth heatmap.

I was wondering if anyone has used the sensor in a setting different to the demo one with success.

For instance, could the sensor be used outside of the car to get the range azimuth heatmap and from there count the number of people inside the car?

Hi,

The sensor is agnostic from the environment. It could be used outside or inside the car.

Not sure I understand your use case.

Where would you place the sensor?

Hello Cesar and thanks for your answer.

I would like to use the sensor on the outside of the car (for example outside the driver's seat) and maybe count like that the people inside the car.

You mean outside, in front of the windshield?

This should work. There will be some attenuation from windshield

A problem you will face will be the line of sight to people in the car. You may not have line of sight to people on second row.

In front of the windshield is one idea.

The other is looking from the outside at the window of the driver's seat or the back seat for example.

Another question I have is that every time the sensor is stopped I have to either unplug and plug it again or to click the reset button on it, for it to be able to start again.

Is there a way to do that programmatically?

Maybe by sending some line inside the configuration file after the sensorStop message?

Hi,

It is not possible to restart the EVM in Software. A host would be needed to activate the NRST signal.
