TDC7201: How many measurements can be completed per second

Part Number: TDC7201

Dear colleague,

The customer wants to know how many measurements can be completed per second.

We can't find it in the datasheet.

Thanks!

Best Regards,

Rock Su

  • Hi Rock,

The measurement per cycle value is dependent on the user/system requirements, such as the number of expected STOP pulses, or the maximum expected delta time between the START pulse and the last STOP pulse.

Is this an ultrasonic system? If so, consider the following example.

If the system is using ultrasonic time-of-flight to measure the distance through air up to 5m, then with a given speed of sound through air being 343m/s, the round-trip time would be 29.155ms .  This means the maximum delta between the START and STOP pulse for a single time of flight measurement is 29.155ms, which is approximately 34 measurements per second. If the maximum distance requirement is reduced, then the measurements per cycle increases.
