AWR1243BOOST: Using device to detect thermal radiation within the millimeter spectrum

Part Number: AWR1243BOOST

Hello,

I am conducting a project that involves non-invasively detecting thermal radiation from a phantom within the millimeter spectrum (30-300 GHz). I have this device (AWR1243BOOST) on hand I wanted to know if it is possible to repurpose it to do this, and what the software setup in mmWAVE Studio would look like if it is possible! I am assuming I can turn the device into receive only and have it pick up a signal that way, but I wanted to know what you guys thought.

Thank you,

Jazmean

  • Hello Jazmean,

I do not have an idea about what is the level of this radiation. But with 1243 you can receiver signal in the 77-81Ghz band only (not the complete 30- 300Ghz).

If the radiation level is larger than -150dBm/Hz  in the 77-81Ghz band then you would be able to observe it with this receiver.

    Regards,

    Vivek
