AWR1243BOOST: Deviation in Measurement results after restarting mmWave Software

Hello,

I am measuring Radar reflectivity of various materials using the AWR1243BOOST /DCA1000 Setup. Whenever i restart the mmWave Studio Software, I can observe a leap in the measured intensity (While the environmental Parameters stay exactly the same). What is the reason behind this and how big is the measurement bias i should expect from the mentioned Setup?

Hello,

I assume you mean the observed object peak level as seen in the receiver data (FFT) is higher when you restart the studio? Does the peak level reduce over time usage? Could you provide some data points?

Hello,

exactly, the Peak Level is higher when i restart it. I attached a rough visualization of my measurements. Each boxplots represents 25 measurements of the Peak Levels. Due to a Hardware issue i had to restart the mmWaveStudio inbetween measurements. As you can see, the difference in the measured Peak Level because of a materials Change is smaller than the difference in Peak Level due to the Software restart. MSA TI.pdf

Hello,

Is the change in the peak 0.4dB ? That would be the RX and Tx gain change with temperature change as the device starts to operate.

Hello,

The Rx gain could change by about 2dB with temperature change. If the run time calibrations are enabled , then beyond that the internal calibrations correct for change beyond that .
