IWR6843AOPEVM: How to configure DopplerProcHWA to run on DSP vs R4F

Part Number: IWR6843AOPEVM

Hi,

Per the documentation (ti/mmwave_sdk_03_02_00_06_AOP/packages/ti/datapath/dpc/dpu/dopplerproc/docs/doxygen/html/index.html) dopplerProcHWA can run on cores R4F or DSP. I am looking at the out of box demo (mmwave_sdk_68xx_aop_hwa from mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_2_0) and trying to figure out where DSP vs R4F is configured. Can you tell me where to configure R4F vs DSP for DopplerProcHWA in the out of the box demo?

Cheers,

  • Hi Parthipan,

Are you using the HWA-only or DSP version of the Out-of-Box Demo?

    Regards,

    AG

  • Hi Akash,

I am using HWA-only version.  I was having trouble finding the DSP version in the mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_2_0.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Parthipan,

We do not have a DSP based version of the Out of Box demo for IWR6843AOPEVM. While DopplerProc_HWA can run on R4F or DSP, please note that it will still perform the actual data processing (i.e. Doppler FFT) using the HWA. Running from the DSP in this context means that the HWA (Hardware Accelerator) will be mastered (i.e. controlled/configured) from the DSP.

The SDK also includes DopplerProc_DSP (dopplerprocdsp.c) which performs the data processing on DSP using software based DSP functions, instead of the Hardware accelerator. This is true for all the other DPUs as well, all of which provide implementation for both HWA and DSP.

That being said, at this point we have not implemented an OOB demo for the AOP EVM which is based on DSP based processing.

    Regards
