IWR6843ISK: difference between people counting and HVAC control

Part Number: IWR6843ISK

I want to use IWR6843ISK for people counting in entrance store. In \mmwave_industrial_toolbox_4_2_1\labs\people_counting, there are two file for ISK module :

68xx_3D_people_counting

68xx_Sense_and_Direct_HVAC_Control

How do these two files differ in functionality?
Which one is more accurate for counting people and why?
Maximum people count in 68xx_3D_people_counting is 20 people and Maximum people count in 68xx_Sense_and_Direct_HVAC_Control is 8 people. Does this mean people count in 68xx_3D_people_counting file performs better?

Hi Masoud,

3D People Counting:

Works on ISK and ODS
Provides a 3D data set

Sense and Direct

Highest Accuracy - this will generally have a more accurate people count then 3D
Better static detection - the static detection scheme works better in this lab than the 3D lab
Only runs on ISK
Provides 2D data

If I use Sense and Direct image in IWR6843ISK and I use ISK module on the ceiling, can it count accurately at its viewing angle?

Hi Masoud,

The Sense and Direct software is built for a wall mount use case. Especially with the ISK antenna, the device would not work properly if mounted on the ceiling facing down. For that, you will want to use the 3D People Counting lab with the ODS antenna. The ISK antenna has a very small elevation FOV so it will not be able to see much if mounted on the ceiling.
