Sensor readout over NFC/RFID ISO 15693 with smart phone

Hey guys,

for a new project, i would like to connect a analog sensor with the RF430FRL15xH NFC ISO 15693_Sensor Transponder inside the RF430FRL152HEVM and read out the values over the NFC/RFID coil with an smart phone. Is that possible without the" MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad development kit with the TRF7970A BoosterPack plug-in".

Also, is it possible to simultaneously connect a temperature and the analog sensor?

Hello Raphael,

the RF430FRL152H can be read out with a NFC enabled smartphone. TI provides also a demo app including the source code to read the temperature from the demo board. Please see the following link for the android app:

The RF430RFL152H has a build in firmware that is configure by so called virtual registers that can be accessed by ISO15693 "Write Single Block" and "Read Single Block" commands. Please see the Firmware User Guide:

Because the RF430FRL152H contains only one ADC a simultaneously measurement is not possible but the ADC input mux allows switching between the sensors and this is also supported by the build in firmware.

Dear Helfried,

thank you so much for your quick and very helpflull response. Before closing this issue i hope you can help me with a other question.

Before connecting a external sensor to the RF430FRL152HEVM i would like to connect the EVM to CSS with the MSP-FET Tool and print out the ADC values. My goal is to mux temerature sensor and the value of the external sensor, then print both of them in CSS.

CSS doesnt reconizes my board thogh, and the RF430FRL15XH GUI Interface seams useless without the TRF7970AEVM

Hello Raphael,

you wrote you can not connect with the FET Probe and CCS to the EVM.

Can you give me please more details. Maybe a screenshot.

Have you checked the settings of the switches on the EVM, especially S6, if they are all in the correct position.

again, thanks for the quick response. The swith S6 is on supply and the other ones are in the same position recommendet in the sheet and in your picture.
