TIDEP-01012: Request for additional information

The min and maximum range will depend on several variables: static object, moving object, reflectivity of object....

The number of 3D points is also highly dependent on many factors: Reflectivity of the object, speed,  CFAR threshold..

Please review the experiments performed in the TI Design Guide.

Thank you for your reply. 

We are currently using AWR1443BOOST, which outputs at most 64 3d points. This has proven to be too few for our application.

With the default hardware, software and config, what is the maximum limit of 3d points that TIDEP-01012 can output? Our concern is for example hardware limitations like ADC buffer etc. 

We are trying to detect a static metallic object (aluminium), so reflectivity should not be an issue.

Just for reference the full PCB design is available as the MMWCAS-RF-EVM and MMWCAS-DSP-EVM designs. The full CAD files (Altium Designer) are available as well. This allows designers to look at the design mechanical information as well.

MMWCAS-RF-EVM:

• length x width x height = 17cm x 13.7cm (PCB)
• weight = 95 grams

MMWCAS-DSP-EVM:

• length x width x height = 17cm x 13.7cm (PCB)
• weight is 290 grams

Note: some of the peripheral connectors extend beyond the PCB outline so overall dimensions may be slightly larger. Please see the attached .step model files (exported from the Altium Designer projects) which should provide more precise mechanical dimensions.

Hi Randy Rosales,

Are you able to confirm when the Processor SDK for Radar will support the new 2nd Gen (AWR2243) cascaded RF boards? I learned that this is an important question to ask since the TIDEP-01012 now ships out with 2nd Gen sensors and there is currently no support available for it within the SDK package.

This is my current issue since I have the 2nd Gen version of the TIDEP-01012 RF board.
