Hi everyone

I'm using the AWR1243BOOST board with the TWS14000+DevPack board. I try to follow the steps described in the userguide using the mmwave Sudio but the SPI can't be connected as shown bellow :

After many attempts, I just tried to compare the components of the AWR1243BOOST as described in the userguide (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru507b/swru507b.pdf) with the actual board under test. And i could notice that i don't have the SPI and CAN Interface selector switch. It seems to be configured to be in CAN mode by default meanwhy the mmwave studio can't connect.

Can the AWR1243BOOST been replaced? or is there any alternative solution?

Hi,

The Device Status Field shows that you have an ES 2.0 silicon.

This board is not supported by mmWave Studio 2.1, (see release notes)

Please use mmwave studio 1.0 for this version of the silicon

i installed the V1 of radar Studio as suggested but i doesn't work!!!

Ettien,

When you select the TSW1400 as your capture solution platform, when you go to select the SOP Mode for the board reset, make sure to select "Mode 4 (Functional)" from the drop-down list.

In newer versions of mmWave Studio, the preferred capture platform for single-chip devices is the DCA1000EVM. When this platform is used, the SOP mode is determined by the jumpers on the mmWave EVM device. However, in your case since you are using the TSW1400, you need to specify this mode in the drop-down menu.

This should hopefully clear up your issue.

I would also recommend that you use the firmware images that are included by default in the mmWave Studio version 1.0 installation instead of the DFP images that you are currently using.

You can find these images at these folder locations:

BSS: C:\ti\mmwave_studio_01_00_00_00\rf_eval_firmware\radarss

MSS: C:\ti\mmwave_studio_01_00_00_00\rf_eval_firmware\masterss

Since you are using an AWR1243 ES 2.0 device, make sure to select the firmware versions that say ES2.0 in the file name.

Can you upload pictures of your physical setup? I need to see where you have connected the USB cables for the AWR1243 along with the DevPack. You should have two USB cables connected, one to the AWR1243 and another to the mmWave-DevPack. Additionally, you should have a third USB cable connected to the TSW1400.

Please ensure that you see 6 COM port entries in your Windows Device Manager. You can upload a screenshot of your Windows Device manager here as well.

You should refer to the mmWave-DevPack User Guide to review the proper setup. You can find that user guide here: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru506/swru506.pdf

Hi Kyle,

find attached the pysical setup pictures. The boards have been assembled as required in the userguide. I have three USB connected on my PC (one for each board Tws1400+DevPack+AWR1243.

A 5V/5A dc supply is used as required (>2.5A in the Userguide) for the TWS1400 and AWR1243.

And as you can notice, all the FTDI drivers have been well installed and i can the 6 COM ports (figure 4). As previously shown i use the ES2.0 config files

C:\ti\mmwave_studio_01_00_00_00\rf_eval_firmware\radarss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_radarss_ES2.0.bin

C:\ti\mmwave_studio_01_00_00_00\rf_eval_firmware\masterss\xwr12xx_xwr14xx_masterss_ES2.0.bin

SO what can i do to make it work?

Ettien,

Can you make check the position of the Mux Select Jumpers on the mmWave-DevPack? The four jumpers should be placed across pins 2 and 3 to allow control of the DevPack from the PC. It looks like they might need to be changed on your setup.

Hi Kyle, thank you very much for this suggestion, it seems to work when changing the jumpers position. Unfortunatly, i got an error message when pushing the TSW1400 ARM button (see figure 2) :

" Frame Config has not been populated,1," . How can i resolve th at?

I think at this point, you should take a look at this older training video: https://training.ti.com/mmwave-sensor-raw-data-capture-using-tsw1400-board

This training video describes how to complete a raw data capture with the mmWave EVM using the TSW1400.

Since there are several steps involved in this process, I would suggest reviewing this video first and then follow up with any questions here.
