The leakage is based on the harmonics from the motor speed. Please see the paper released on the IEEE "Comprehensive Analysis of Magnet Defect Fault Monitoring Through Leakage Flux". This will be dependent on the motor and the leakage of the flux. Once you compare the normal flux leakage and the harmonics of a good motor you can see difference of the harmonics. If you see the paper it shows the harmonics are almost not observed for a health motor and harmonics are observed with a "faulty" motor.
