IWR6843: Microvias on waveguide ground tracks

Part Number: IWR6843

The layout instructions show comprehensive use of microvias [0.15mm] along these tracks. However, when we look carefully at the evaluation boards we purchased, the microvias seems to be absent. Even with the coating that is applied to the antenna area, I would have expeccted some evidence of microvias to show through.

Am I mistaken and the microvias are present but completely covered over ?

Your observations are fair, microvias are filled with non-conductive epoxy and capped, Hence you would not see micro vias from top surface, but if you cross section the board at the via location you would see it.
