Hi everyone

We are looking for Radar Front-End solution for Anti-Collision.

1. Install
We will install the Radar between two moving Crane.
The Radar measures the distance of two cranes.

2. The angle.
we need narrow-angle of Radar.
Because there is much structure around the Cranes.
We only want to detect the Crane.

3. measurement
The most important is the distance between the two cranes.
One of them may stop, another one may move.
(Both can be a move or stop)
Any situation, the radar must measure the distance.
If another structure is detecting, we must ignore the distance of the structures or not detect it.

I'm thinking the ic whether AWR1843 or AWR2243.
we want to buy AWR1843(or AWR2243), how long take the delivery time?

Please recommend.

Hello Daniel,

Thanks for choosing the mmWave technology for your usecase.

As you already know the AWR devices are used for detection of the objects in its view . TI has a wide range of devices that can fit in different usecases like BSD/LCA/AEB etc.

I would request you to go over the device datasheet to understand the features set in different devices AWR1642/AWR1843/AWR1243 etc.

Based on some of your high level requirement of the max range/distance you would like to measure or the max velocity you would like to measure you can decide on the device .

What is the maximum distance that you would like to measure ?

Thank you for your reply.

We need the +/- 4degree(vertical/horizontal) angle and up to 350M distance.
The velocity is about 40km/h.

Our application is not the product of auto. So we don't need wide-angle.

The usecase seems like that of Imaging Radar.

Please refer to "https://www.ti.com/tool/MMWCAS-RF-EVM" for the reference design . This would suit your requirement.

Daniel,

The device to consider here is the multiple AWR2243 on single PCB. This will provide the angular resolution that you have for your application.
