IWR1642BOOST: Out of Box Demo : How to detect when a human is stopping

Part Number: IWR1642BOOST
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: IWR1642

Hi community member,

I have a favor to ask.

Is there an optimum parameter to detect hardly move human using Out of Box Demo?

My customer evaluate mmwave radar using IWR1642 and mmwave demo visualizer.
They experiment in their conference room, but a non-move man can be not detected and displayed to Demo visualizer.

Best regards.

  • Hello,

    1. Please look at the Very Fine Motion Detection vs PIR Experiment in Industrial Toolbox. This experiment uses the SDK Out of Box Demo and provides a chirp configuration which is sensitive to fine motions such as typing and breathing and can detect those at up to a distance of 5-6 m.

    2. People Counting Demo: The SDK out of box demo uses Range-Doppler (i.e. Range, followed by Doppler and AoA) signal processing which is not very well suited for detecting static people in general. I would also suggest you to look at the 16xx - People Counting Demo (available in Industrial toolbox version 3.6.2). The People counting demo implements a Range-Azimuth processing chain which is better at detecting static people.
