Hi Support team,

When IWR6843AOP is in TX beam steering mode, what the angular resolution is and what AoA algorithm is used?

When IWR6843AOP is in MIMO mode, is AOA algorithm DBF (which is same with IWR1443BOOST)?

Hi, Katsuhiro:

For AOP antenna with 3TX beamforming, the antenna resolution will be 60 degrees in both azimuth and elevation direction.

For AOP antenna with MIMO mode, the antenna resolution will be 30 degree in both azimuth and elevation direction.

But the AOA algorithm can be the same for both mode. Just use 2D FFT to calculate the 2-dimensional FFT spectrum and find the single peak for angle estimation. It is different than the algorithm used in IWR1443 because IWR1443 has better angle resolution in azimuth direction. It calculates 1D angle spectrum on azimuth direction and finds multiple peak on azimuth direction. Then for each azimuth peak, calculate the elevation peak.
