CCS/IWR6843: 3D People Counting Lab Q&A ( toolbox 4.2.1)

Part Number: IWR6843

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Dear TI

       .

                  ISK cfg :     profileCfg 0 60.75 7 7 41.10 1184274 0 54.7125 1   96 2950.00 0 0 36

                 ODS cfg :    profileCfg 0 60.75 7 7 41.10 0 0 54.71 1 96 2950.00 0 0 24

Above the last parameter is RX gain , why ISK is 36 and ODS is 24 . Do you have unit for this parameters ,  db ?  and range ?

ISK  1184274 , this is for what ?

BR

  • Hi Toyota,

This is in dB. This will effect maximum range, but it will also effect noise floor. On the ODS, we have a much wider FOV, so there are more reflections off of floors and ceiling. This doesn't result in detections, but does increase the noise floor. Lowering the Rx Gain is a way to improve here and lower the noise floor. Since this is target shorter range applications, we don't need the higher Rx gain for long range detection.

    Regards,

    Justin

  • Dear TI

What is the suggestion value for below application?

                  0~10M , 0~20M and 0~100M

    BR

  • Hi Toyota,

This will depend on Tx Backoff as well as the environment. In General

    0-20 meters: 24 - 36 dB Rx Gain.

For 100 meters, you will definitely need 48 dB Rx gain to detect a human.

    Regards,

    Justin
