OPT3101: What if there is Eye tracking system close to OPT3101 system?

Part Number: OPT3101

Hi team,

Would OPT3101 range detection be interfered if there is eye tracking system close to it??

Both light source will be using IR LED, we afraid there could be some interfering to each other and affect the detection accuracy .

  • Hi Alex,

The concern would be saturating the OPT3101 photodiode. OPT3101 has ambient cancellation that lets it function under certain levels of IR light such as in sunlight. The wavelength match between photodiode responsivity and these IR LEDs should be considered as well as strength of the LEDs and how much IR light is actually making it into the opt3101 photodiode. If the diodes are not saturated and OPT3101 is able to cancel then it will function. Are you able to test between EVM and eye tracking system to verify this? IR light will show as "ambient" value reported in our GUI.

    Best,

    Alex
