AWR2243: OSC_CLKOUT Specs

Part Number: AWR2243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00804B

Hi,

Could I get some information on the OSC_CLKOUT signal?  I would assume it follows the requirements for the CLKP crystal, but is it a AC-coupled sine wave or DC-coupled square wave?

Thanks,

Robert

  • Hi Robert,

OSC_CLKOUT is a 1.4V to GND, single-ended square-wave. Its intended use is to supply a low-jitter, 40 Mhz clock source to any connected AWRx slave devices in a cascaded architecture. A compatible 40 MHz source can be provided to the master and slave cascaded devices from any source, but utilizing the OSC_CLKOUT allows for the slave devices to make use of the 40 MHz XTAL and jitter cleaner within the attached AWRx master device. This potentially can reduce overall system BOM.

In 2-device cascade mode operation, OSC_CLKOUT can be DC-coupled into the XTALP of the attached slave AWRx device.

In mult-device cascade mode operation, OSC_CLKOUT can be DC-coupling into a high-impedance input buffer, such as the LMK00804B 1:4 clock-distribution device. Then the 1.8V output of this clock distribution device can be DC coupled into the XTALP of any attached slave AWRx devices.

Please let me know if that answers your question.

    Thank you,

    -Randy
