Hello,

I am working with the IWR6843ISK_ODS E2.0 sensor and I am trying to run the 68XX_3D_People_Count (also latest version 4.2.1). I want to modify some parameters to adopt my application, which is an elevator cabin. So I want to change the detection range, detection resolution, and speed detection parameters. And I don't know how to do it or what parameters should I change from .cfg file?

Hi Usama,

Please read this document on programming chirps: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/swra553a/swra553a.pdf

Once you have an understanding of how the chirp parameters effect range, max velocity, etc, try to modify the existing chirp to meet your requirements. For people counting, you must remain under 128 samples per chirp.

Hello,

Thanks for your help, this document help me to understand parameters. So I tried to change the "profileCfg" parameter and I got to decreace maxRange from 7.2m to 5.31m and rangeRes 0.059. I also got to decrease the max velocity to 8.3m/s. That´s enough good but I want to decreace more the maxRange and max velocity but I can´t.

I don´t know what I´m doing wrong. Please help me that.

Hi Usama,

Changing the ramp end time is probably what is causing you issues here, as it can cause the following issues:

Chirp frequency exceeds 64 GHz
Device does not have enough time to complete frame

If you want to limit max range, you can do this with the boundary box parameters. Lower the Far Y value. Max velocity can be lowered by reducing the number of chirps while maintaining the same active frame time - typically this is done by increasing idle time.

Why are you trying to decrease Max Velocity?

Would the demo visualizer help to select the best parameters for a use case and validate it automatically?

Hi AnBer,

The sensing estimator/OOB demo don't have the same chirp limitations as the people counting demo, so a chirp that works in OOB demo may not work in people counting. These tools can be used to get an idea of where to start with the chirp though.
