Hi team,
My customer would like to use SPI interface to communicate PGA460PSM-EVM but they have some questions.
1. Could they use SPI interface on PGA460PSM-EVM ? And If they could use SPI, do they need to link TXD/RXD/SCLK/PWR/GND ?
2. They need to use 4pcs Ultrasound on their application, so could they commode use one SPI bus for 4pcs ultrasound module?
Thanks
Hi Paul,
Yes, the customer can use SPI to interface with the PGA460PSM-EVM.
All five pins you have indicated will be used for SPI communication:
Note: there is no chip select on the PGA460.
It is possible to connect up to eight PGA460 on the same SPI bus.
Note: the UART_ADDR register value of each PGA460 must be EEPROM programmed to different values prior to bus installation.
See the following PGA460 FAQs for more details on bus interface support:

Note: Wherever UART is mentioned, this is also applies to SPI.
Akeen,
Thanks for your feedback and customer asked the other related question. Please help.
We want double confirm our design block diagram as below
1.Does Option 1 and Option 2 design is OK ?
2.For Ultrasound module, Does it have any design rule document about structure design for our reference ?
3.For Ultrasound PGA460Q1EVM module.
(1) Could we request change this connector to other type on EVM ? ( As below picture "Green circle" area.)
(2) Could we request added hole on EVM for fix Ultrasound module on our structure ? ( As below picture "Blue circle" area.)
Thanks
Hi Paul,
1. Yes, both interface options drawn are correctly, and will support a SPI/USART bus. There is also the option to use a UART bus, which removes the SCLK pin.
2. This question is not clear.
3. To make a connector change and add a mounting hole to the PGA460PSM-EVM hardware, download the Altium CAD Design Files ( TIDA-060024 CAD Files ) from the http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-060024 page. The customer can then make all modifications in Altium.
